Wow it's depressing how critical people are -.- Don't listen to them, the redo of that tattoo is an amazing improvement! I'd be thrilled to have my own tattoo redone so well. Good job!

Hey, criticism is incredibly important to an artist's improvement.

The lack of ears, nose shape and shading on the bridge of the nose on the sheep (in the second image) makes it look like a poodle. This is a sheep nose- [link]
Also, what is up with the random little, I dunno, 'shake lines' around the thorns? They just look so off and it would look just fine without them.

I'm pretty sure this is the image we used [link] (although, I can't be sure being that this was done years ago). Also, directly after giving a tattoo with grey wash, it tends to look darker for a couple weeks until it's healed completely. There was more added to this piece that incorporated the "shakey lines", but I never got a picture of it. *shrugs*

I certainly agree, it looks like a poodle ):

Agreed. And those shake lines are a bit obvious, although the persons skin may be very rough. But the keeyy....oh god, why turn the lovely chain into rough line? It just looks a bit unprofessional.

wow! nice! the thing that bothers me though is that the sheep looks more like a poodle. It looked more like a sheep in the older design

And this is why Deviant art shouldn't be judging tattoos, This is actually pretty bad. A small look at some of the worlds best will show this. I work with artists who would rebuild this a lot better than shown here.

Please feel free to send me any DD suggestions for Traditional: Body art you wish.
The artist had no choice in my decision to feature this DD - so please direct your criticisms of that selection to me.
I look forward to your private message.

I won't suggest anything body art related to this site, I have seen numerous tattoos on here getting huge praise when they're actually really bad. This one in particular is a shame because the rest of his tattoos featured in his gallery are 10x better, I find it strange to see such a backwards step in work quality. I'm not saying this tattoo is completely garbage but it definitely does not deserve Daily deviation. As for you wanting the criticism about the suggestion you made, Maybe you shouldn't be judging body art, Like I said just before, He has a lot better work in his gallery, His other realism pieces are really good.

He wasn't trying to suggest a better tattoo. His concern was the quality of this one, which from the looks of it won't age very well. You're not even the fucking artist, why are you getting defensive against criticism?

Only on DeviantART can there exist second hand butthurt.

I am the Community Volunteer who chose this work to feature as a DD - so, your rudely worded criticism of my involvement in the discussion is, shall we say, misplaced.

DD are a Feature - there are reasons this image was chosen.

Please feel free to private message me if you wish to discuss the matter further.

Otherwise: What do I do when I disapprove of a Daily Deviation feature? [link]

Are you fucking simple?

His criticism was towards the work, not towards the status of its display as a Daily Deviation. Nobody gives a shit that you were the one who featured this piece, that wasn't the fucking point to his criticism. It's not about you, you pretentious oaf; it's about the cover up of the wolf wearing sheep's skin.

You're reiterating information like a dumb parrot because you're upset over legitimate criticism given by other artists. Asking for these people to suggest better artwork to display in the future is the equivalent to a child screaming "well lets see you do better!", the only real difference being that your title implies you are supposed to have some level of maturity.

Evidently this is not the case, as here you are spewing your copy/paste shit babbling in response to people doing anything other than pandering the artist's work.

It is sad that we cannot have a productive conversation.

At least our points of view - and how we communicate those points - is there for all to see and evaluate as they see fit.

Get off your fucking high horse. No fucking shit there wasn't going to be any productive outcomes to our conversation; you're throwing around common knowledge in defense for someone else's work and I am telling you it's none of your fucking business to try and redirect criticism towards a piece of art onto yourself.

You're not obligated to pander the artist and try to maintain his ego after you had chosen to display his artwork. The only reason you're doing so is not to help save the artist's ass but your own after having doubts about the credibility of the work you ended up featuring. There's nothing slimier in this world than two faced fucks talking about an issue ambiguously and trying to save face for their decisions. It's not your place to react to criticism regarding the artwork itself.

Seriously, get over yourself. You featured the piece because you thought it was worth featuring, that's all. You didn't create the piece, so it's none of your business what sort of response it gets from the public. Stop spamming people with hearsay regarding common information which most everyone already fucking understands. You're not doing the artist any sort of favors by embarking on a white knight venture.

Reading all these comments about how good it is makes me angry. This cover up should be covered up again. I don't even feel sorry for the guy with the tattoo. Getting a shitty tattoo covered up with a shitty tattoo? what the fuck i wrong with him?

Yeah no shit, I see bad work on a daily basis come into our shop and we are stuck with the task of covering bad jobs. I attend international tattoo shows here in New Zealand and Australia, I see crazy fucking work being done in front of me, This pales in comparison. I would be asking for my money back after this.

It isn't very impressive, no, but for what is there I'd say it's okay. If that were the result of a cover up on my arm I wouldn't be disappointed.

I definitely thought the same things that I saw mentioned once or twice below. My first thought being I like the way the sheep is drawn in the first picture better. But honestly both of them are good. Obviously it needed to be touched up though because the fading is pretty bad. I think the improvement I really like is adding the border and the changes to the key in the newer version. And although both wolf faces are good, I am a bit more partial to the left (even though it looks less realistic and more..fantasy?).

In the end, the only person's opinion that really matters is the one who has it tattooed on his arm, and I have a feeling he ended up happy with the results. :)
